Code of Conduct


Code of Conduct Overview

The PNHLL philosophy: The board, managers, coaches, and parents will strive to teach the fundamentals and rules of the game of baseball, while providing an appropriate environment to learn and have fun. All players will have an opportunity to participate.

To encourage this philosophy:

  1. Player safety will always be our first concern. 

  2. Follow Little League rules at all times.

  3. All players will have an opportunity to play.

  4. The manager/coach will strive to instill in his/her players the concepts of good sportsmanship, positive attitude, and team work. This will be demonstrated in practices and games, while dealing with managers, coaches, umpires, parents, and players.

  5. Inappropriate physical and/or verbal abuse shall not be allowed. It shall be reported by coaches and/or parents to the Board of Directors.

  6. Managers and coaches shall use their best efforts to monitor the behavior of their players’ families and friends while attending a game or practice. All efforts should be made to inform parents and spectators of the need for good sportsmanship and proper behavior at the games and practices.

  7. District 281 is tobacco, alcohol and drug free environment. All games and practices must be tobacco, alcohol, and drug free, including spectators.

  8. Violation of the rules set forth above shall be cause for review possible dismissal.

Player Code of Conduct

  • I will treat all players, coaches, umpires, parents, volunteers and facilities with respect, by using appropriate language and appropriate behavior when interacting. 
  • I will seek to become the best athlete I can be by taking practices seriously, trying my hardest, and focusing during  events.
  • I will win and lose graciously, demonstrating good sportsmanship throughout games and practices to both my fellow teammates and my opponents. 
  • I will be honest and take responsibility for my actions and my effort put forth. 
  • I will play for the team, not myself. 
  • I will not cause physical or mental harm to my teammates. 

Failure to comply:

  1. First offense: A verbal warning will be issued to the player and/or a warning with email communication will be given to the family. (the division coordinator will need to be informed) 
  2. Second offense: Coach will remove player from the event immediately. (the division coordinator and Safety Officer will need to be informed) 
  3. Third offense: Coach will remove player from the event immediately and the player may be subject to serve a suspension (the division coordinator, Safety Officer, and President of the League will be informed) 
  4. Fourth offense: The player may be subject to removal from the League. (the Division Coordinator, Safety Officer, and President of the League will be informed) 

I hereby agree with and will abide by the Mission Statement, the Code of Conduct, and all PNH Little League rules, requirements, and regulations. 

Parent Code of Conduct

I pledge to honor and support the team, the coaches, and Plymouth-New Hope Little League (PNHLL) by adhering to the PNHLL Parent Code of Conduct as stated below: 

  • I will remember that Little League is foremost for the players development. 
  • I will be positive and supportive of each child’s efforts, recognizing that each child is an individual and each possesses different skills and abilities.
  • I will encourage good sportsmanship by demonstrating positive support and behavior - being an example to my child.
  • I will come to the events drug and alcohol free and maintain that environment throughout the event.
  • I will treat coaches, umpires, volunteers, and league officials with courtesy and respect at all times.
  • I will not undermine or question the coach’s instructions, directions or decisions for my child. I will not try to coach my child from the stands.
  • I will place realistic skill development above my own personal expectations.
  • I will stay out of the dugout before, during or after games and practices. If I would like to speak to a coach, I will respect the 24 hour rule and contact him or her after 24 hours has passed. If the matter is one of safety or integrity, I will speak directly to a board member.
  • I agree that I will support the emotional and physical well-being of all the participants on the field. Safety of all players is of utmost importance. 
  • I will respect that at the Little League level, a zero tolerance policy toward alcohol and tobacco has been enacted nationwide -- for participants and coaches. The rule reads: "Tobacco and alcohol in all forms are prohibited on the playing field, benches and dugouts" at all times.

Failure to comply: Any suspected violation of the above Code of Conduct should be reported to the proper PNHLL Board Officials.  Violations may result in immediate removal from an event, a game suspension, or banishment from the PNHLL facilities and/or the PNH League Community. 

Coaches Code of Conduct

I pledge to honor and support my team by adhering to the PNH Coaches Code of Conduct:

  • I understand that participating as a coach in the League is a privilege.
  • I will place all athletes' emotional and physical well-being as my top priority.
  • I understand player development comes before winning
  • I will teach my players to respect the game, rules, officials, opponents, and the organization they represent. 
  • I will not allow comments from the bench which would include personal and malicious remarks, cursing and obscene language toward teammates, opponents, umpires, coaches, parents or spectators.
  • I will use the opportunity to coach to encourage and model proper behavior.
  • I will provide a safe practicing and playing environment for my players and communicate practice and game times to all involved. 
  • I will provide and model a drug and alcohol-free environment for my players. 
  • I will treat each athlete fairly and honestly.
  • I will continue to grow in my knowledge of coaching for the benefits of my players. 
  • I will allow an open line of communication with my players
  • I will use learning opportunities appropriately 
  • I will respect Little League International rules on pitching and catcher's safety 
  • I will be sure my practice and pre-game warm ups are facilitated properly to ensure the safety of all players and members of my team.

Failure to comply: Any suspected violation of the above Code of Conduct should be reported to the Coordinator in that division as well as the President.  Violations may result in game suspension or banishment from any future Little League activities

Board meetings are open to all members.  If you have an issue, please contact a board member in advance, and we will add you to the agenda to discuss.  As an organization, we value being transparent and welcoming.  

If your experience is a matter of integrity or safety, please alert a board member official as soon as possible so that the board may address the matter in a timely manner.
